Some women sail through menopause without any of the typical symptoms and embrace the new stage of life that they are entering. However, for some women, menopause can be more of a rocky road. Menopause can cause significant emotional changes, such as mood swings and increased anxiety. Menopause also is a constant reminder of aging and that the decision whether or not to have children has disappeared.
Take Time for Yourself
Whether you enjoy reading, writing, running, kayaking, shopping, or a spa getaway, make it happen. It can be a big weekend or something you promise you will do for yourself every day. You have to make time for yourself to reflect on your life and allow yourself to accept the changes that are happening.
Talk to Your Friends
Who better to discuss menopause with than someone who is going through the exact same thing? It is more likely that a majority of your friends are going through the same thing you are, and also would like to have someone with whom they can talk about menopause. No one else will be able to help you through this time in your life better than a good friend with firsthand knowledge, and sharing your feelings about it will help you accept it.
Eat Healthy and Exercise
It has been extensively shown that exercising produces endorphins that boost energy and mood. It's easy to put on a pair of tennis shoes and go for a walk or a jog, but you could also take up a new activity such as yoga, Pilates, water aerobics, or Zumba. All of these exercises can help you feel good while shrinking your waistline.
No one wants to feel bloated and sluggish on top of suffering from menopause symptoms. Start by adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet each day, then try to eat out less and cook healthy meals more often. Soon, you will be feeling the benefits of your new healthy lifestyle, and you will never want to go back to the days of fast food.
Menopause is full of physical and emotional symptoms, and they can have a big impact women and on the people they care about.
