There's nothing more inconvenient — and embarrassing — than being unprepared when that time of the month unexpectedly arrives. It can be even more challenging when traveling. Try these survival tips to help you travel with living with irregular periods.
Pack Your Kit
This one might seem obvious, but who hasn't had a time where they were unprepared for an unexpected period before? Have a tampon and other essentials with you at all times. This is especially true when you are traveling and may not be able to go to a store anytime soon.
Sit Near the Restroom
On an airplane or charter bus, always try to take a seat near the restroom.
Bring Extra Underwear
Pack extra underwear in your bag, even if you're on a day trip — you never know when you might need them.
Preventing Irregular Periods
It can be difficult to prevent irregular periods; however, you can prevent any discomfort and embarrassment by always being prepared for your period when you travel. If you're irregular periods are severe or you suspect something is abnormal, consult a doctor.
You may also want to try simple lifestyle changes that can help control hormone levels. Exercising more and eating right can go a long way toward easing the frequency and intensity of irregular periods. Additionally, alternative medicines like black cohosh and Macafem are said to correct hormonal imbalance, and can be easily integrated into your diet.
