On a daily basis, the head loses around 100 hairs. The body naturally replaces those, but as it ages, it can no longer replace them so easily. Stress is one of the leading causes of hair loss. It is important to try to reduce stress by figuring out the source and focusing on managing it. The key to preventing hair loss is by strengthening it and stimulating hair growth. Methods include hot oil treatments, eating nutrient-rich foods, and reducing stress. All of these treatment are natural, low-cost, and easy to do at home.
Hot Oil Treatments
Hot oil treatments have been a popular remedy for hair loss in India and other parts of the world for years. Despite the name of this treatment, you do not want to use hot oil, but rather warm oil. The best oils to use are natural oils like coconut, jojoba, almond, lavender, or olive. Massaging the oil into the scalp stimulates the roots and increases blood circulation, which promotes hair growth. The natural oils provide moisture, protection, and antioxidants to the hair and scalp. Heat up the oil until it is warm, and massage it gently into the scalp with the pads of your fingers. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo and rinse.
Eat Nutrient-Rich Foods
Hair is mostly made of protein, so it is important to get plenty of nutrients to help fortify it. Increasing your protein intake makes sense in strengthening hair and promoting growth. Red meat, dairy, and eggs are all protein-rich foods that are easy to incorporate into the daily diet.
Other vital nutrients that can help prevent and treat hair loss are iron and vitamin C. Spinach, kale, collard greens, dried apricots, broccoli, and chicken are all good sources of iron. Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and also aids in the absorption of iron, so it is recommended to take them together. It also encourages collagen production, which is good for hair. Foods like blueberries, guava, oranges, strawberries, and sweet potatoes are all good sources of vitamin C. Additional foods that are packed with nutrients which promote hair health are salmon, almonds, carrots, and whole grains.
Although this seems like an obvious treatment option, many people are not aware that stress can directly cause hair loss. Stress has been shown to accelerate hair loss and other aging signs, like wrinkles and grey hair. It is important for overall health and well-being to manage and reduce stress as much as possible. Simple ways to do this include practicing yoga or meditation and taking time to read. Exercise is another excellent stress reliever. Studies have shown that regular exercise - about 30 minutes at least three times a week - can significantly reduce stress and boost energy levels. Biking, walking, and swimming are low-intensity workouts that are effective stress relievers.
Stress can accelerate the aging process, hair loss included. There are several natural ways to treat stress-induced hair loss. These methods include hot oil treatments, eating more nutrient rich foods, and practicing relaxation techniques. It is essential to try and manage stress for your overall health and well-being, as well as for your appearance.
