Recent studies have shown there are more ways to stop the spare tire around the waste from further inflating than hours of exercise and starvation. A recent study conducted at Osaka University in Japan found that the faster a person eats, the more likely she is to experience weight gain. The researchers found that people who eat quickly, shoveling food in and barely giving themselves a chance to take breaths between bites, are three times more likely to be overweight.

This allowed the researchers to conclude that although the types of foods people eat is generally considered the primary factor in weight gain, the speed and manner that a person eats also is a contributing factor.But there's no mistaking that what people eat is an all-important factor in determining weight gain. Some are hailing baked beans as the wonder food to help trim down and prevent weight gain.

Baked beans are low in fat and high in protein and fiber. They're also packed with vitamins and minerals, such as zinc, folic acid, potassium, and iron.

A good technique to curbing weight gain is to replace fried foods and meat dishes with baked beans.

Finally, scientists have developed a drug that mimics an ingredient in red wine that has been found to limit weight gain, protect against diabetes, and provide energy. The drug is called SRT1720 and hones in on a protein that is also affected by resveratrol, which originates in the skin of red grapes. Resveratrol is a chemical that is known to affect aging and works to prevent cancer and heart disease.

Equipped with this new information about weight gain, all that's left is to pull up a chair, slowly eat baked beans, sip on a glass of red wine, and wait for weight gain to be a thing of the past.
